“Skid Row” is a carefully composed 6-tracker of modern club and sound-system oriented Bristol influenced bass music. Believe it nor not, all basslines are created by the same untypical hardware device, the Benidub DS71 Dub Siren. The tracks are fusing grime and techno and pick up early reggae and 90s warehouse toasting – far beyond shiny algorithm optimization.

“Rictus” attunes the listeners to a playful, deeply swinging bassline which is embedded in reduced drums and comfy pads. “Cockatrice” unfolds a technoid, almost trance-like impetus – dressed in broken beats and thoughtful vocal samples. “Weedlot” sticks more to the funky side and cavorts with a bunch of witty sonic effects.

Flip the record and meet “Clodbuster”: a conscious, truly demolishing badass tune in the spirit of the rawest UK bass and grime! “Suttree” slows it down by opening a wide and wry space garnished with reggae horn and contemporary dance music samples. The record closes with growling drums, reverberant chords, tripping vocal snippets, and a sub-bass targeted on blurring your sight: “Calico”.

In its fully up-to-date sound design, the record points to the near future by challenging your perception and values. Accordingly, the titles are inspired by the quirky, semi-autobiographical novel “Suttree” (1979), written by the late American Cormac McCarthy.

When two ace producers like DB1 and Logos makes a release together all you really need to do is your shopping and when you add a Peder Mannerfelt remix on top of that this Swedish bloke is in heaven.
